Yes Helen there are some tours now going to Antarctica during the months of December and January. These two week cruises start at around$2990 U.S. including air out of North America. The trip begins with a flight from Miami to Buenos Aires with a two-day tour of Argentina's capital. From Buenos Aires you catch a flight to the worlds most southern city Ushuaia, Argentina. From there you board and make your way through Drake Passage to Antarctica. These trips have shore excursions included and are very careful not to disturb the native wildlife. Like a Dream! There are two clubs, Hedonism 2 and Hedonism 3. Hedonism 2 is more traditional with basic rooms with standard fair food and no TV. in the room. While Hedonism 2 is twenty-five years old Hedonism 3 is only three years old and more deluxe. Hedonism 3 has TV. in the rooms along with a whirlpool in the bathroom. I am a student in first year university studying at the University of Calgary. I can't really afford to travel home to Toronto, as often as I like and I was wondering what is involved in travelling standby and how much is the saving? Peggy Hamilton - Toronto, Ontario A typical students problem, No Money!! Standby is not necessarily the cheapest way. Your best bet is to reserve at the last minute with an under booked charter if you can stand the inconvenience. The charters have standby rates from Calgary to Toronto that average around $200 but this is only one-way. These prices fluctuate but this is close to the average price. You can beat that with a late booking return fare on a charter. No Place Like Home!
I just turned eighty last week and I am in pretty good shape. I would like to visit Machu Pitchu this year but I am not sure whether it involves too much climbing. Could you tell me whether maybe there is a train or tram that goes up to the ruins? There are adventure tours that leave from Cuzco and take you to the base of Machu Picchu. There are no trams or trains but from the base there are buses that take you the 8 km. journey to the top of the mountain so there should not be too much climbing. Remember

to Wear on Alaska Cruise? Dennis Brown - Calgary, Alberta Well Dennis I have cruised to Alaska on several occasions and one thing I have learned is you cannot predict the weather in Alaska. You will surely need a warm sweater to stroll the deck and probably a jacket. The average hi temperature for August in Juneau is 62.7F and the average low is 47.3F. Juneau has an average of 18 days of rain in August so bring a rain jacket. It is a great trip no matter what the weather. Slightly Chilled!

Island anyone? Jason Brock - Toronto, Ontario Sounds like an interesting adventure. Easter island is quite a remote island so the easiest access would be by plane. It does have a small airport to accommodate tourists and flights leave from Chile throughout the week. There are regular flights to Santiago Chile from Toronto for around $1100can. From Santiago you can book a 5-hour flight to Easter Island for approximately $ 800 U.S. return. There are a couple of hotels on the island ranging from $50 to $150 US a night. Have a nice trip!

There are many charters to London starting at around $650 depending on the date. Once there you can buy a three month Eurail pass for $1688 if you are under 26 years of age and $2415 if you are over 26 years old. This will allow you ease of movement throughout Europe.
